Tibetan Singing Bowl Workshop

A Unique Healing and Teaching Retreat

"There is nothing in the world that does not speak to us.
Everything and everybody reveals their own nature, character,
and secrets continuously. The more we open up our inner sense,
the more we can understand the voice of everything."
Hazrat Inayat Khan

Historical Tradition

According to Tibetan oral tradition, the
existence of singing bowls dates back
to the time of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni
(560-480 BC).  Tibetans used the art of singing
bowls (which dates back to the bronze age,
approximately 3000 years ago), to bridge
the material and non-material worlds.  With
singing bowls, sound becomes an aide for the
translation of spirit into matter and of matter
into spirit.  Bringing in the sound and vibration
from the singing bowls allows for connecting
oneself to the central life force of the universe,
providing a space to enter the three shamanic
worlds, the upper, middle, and underworld.

Made from a variety of precious metals, the
unique sound and look of each bowl is determined
both by the combination of metals and
craftsmanship of the maker.  From polished
golden hues to matte black finishes, each bowl
is as individual in appearance as it is in tone.

Today in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains
of Bhutan, Nepal, India and Tibet, these bowls
are still being used by the Shamans for healing.

How Bowls are Used

Singing bowls are a beautiful and powerful
mystery. They produce the sound of AUM,
which is the sound of energy becoming matter.
They alter space, mind and time.  The sound and
vibration of the bowls awakens cellular memory
and heals the energy body.  Playing the bowls
usually causes the ability to ground and center
oneself.  The tones set up a harmonic resonance
which allows a balancing left/right brain
synchronization to occur.

The bowls can be used for:

relaxation          prayer                  healing
meditation         ceremony             trance         balancing           illness                 journeying
concerts            cleansing             transform

Singing bowls produce sounds that invoke deep
states of relaxation, naturally assisting one in
entering states of consciousness and meditation . . .
the ultimate goal being healing and
enlightenment.  In the end, each experience
with the sound of the bowls is that of
communication between oneself and the
inner world that often opens us to the universe.
This leads to the Buddhist teaching of
Voidness - that nothing can exist independently
of anything else.

Workshop Overview

Vibrational medicine, also called sound therapy
or sound healing, is a powerful tool.  Over the
course of the workshops, we will guide you in
understanding and experiencing how the tone
and vibration of these bowls can assist in your
personal healing, as well as the healing of others.
Through the use of experiential, hands-on healing
exercises and lectures we will invite you to
explore your inner healer using sound.

These workshops offer a unique and loving
environment of support and encouragement,
providing each participant the opportunity to
explore, grow and witness one another.   In
supporting this philosophy, it is helpful if each
student has some awareness of the basic Chakra
System and Auric Field.

Each class is unique in its own way.  The overall
pace and depth of each workshop is set by the
group's energy and vibration.  This class is an
invitation to experiment with singing bowls; to
see how you respond together, grow together
and change.  Remembering that no two moments
are ever the same and this is the only moment
that matters right now.

Our workshops offer the opportunity to learn
from basic to advanced techniques utilizing the
sounds and vibrations of singing bowls in the
following areas:

About Karla Joy
In 2001 while attending Snowlion Center School (a four-year Integrative Energy Healing Program), Karla met classmate joey blue who introduced her to the healing power of the sacred Tibetan singing bowls.  Immediately the bowls resonated deeply throughout Karla's being, awakening an instant 'remembering and knowing' within her.  joey became Karla's teacher of this ancient and sacred healing practice.  These teachings have enhanced her own healing and personal work and have become an invaluable tool when working with others in her private practice as an intuitive energy healer.

Karla's devotion to her own personal healing and spiritual growth work is based upon the integration of one's whole being.  Her unique and loving ability in teaching helps to guide others in discovering their own beautiful core essence.  Karla believes healing work is part of her life's purpose and she approaches it with integrity, compassion, honor and respect while guiding and witnesssing others on their own personal healing journey.  Karla's high energy and intuitive knowledge allows for creating a safe, open and loving environment which supports each individuals personal work and process.

About joey blue
In 1998 while on a spiritual journey to Nepal, joey found herself drawn to the Tibetan Singing Bowls.  It was here that she was introduced to the mystical power of these bowls.  Her initial curiousity opened her path and place into this sacred llineage of healing.

joey was introduced to an ancient form of healing passed from generation to generation of Tibetan healers.  The techniques used by these singing bowl shamans were guarded closely by the families still practicing this beautiful healing tradition.  Despite her status as a "blue-eyed Westerner", joey was given the honor and opportunity to train extensively during the next three years with Shaman, Shree Krishna, her beloved teacher and healer.

joey blue resides in Taos, New Mexico, where she has a private practice working in psychotherapy, trauma recovery and intuitive hands-on healing.  She is a gifted sight and intuitive healer with a focus on bringing consciousness into the body, mind and soul.  Her gifts as an intuitive enhance her teaching abilities in bringing insight into each student's healing process and greater path work.  She supports and honors students on a soul level, bringing into the light the beauty of each person's inner healer, their higher self and inner wisdom.  joey assists in creating a space where wisdom, love and healing have room to flourish allowing us all to learn and grow together.
